CW 2007
Well well well.
We won the bid to host Computers and Writing 2007. Come on down to the Motor City to talk shop in two years.

In other news, influenced by Rich Doyle's Penn State Wiki program, I set up a 1020 Wiki, for our first year writing courses. I'm hoping some instructors will venture out into wikis and think about ways to set up and teach in this kind of space. Right now, it just hosts a draft of my writing course for next semester (but plenty of space for other courses!).

Hey Steve
You need two things on your server
php
mysql

that's it. Most servers run with them anyway. If not, your admin can install them; they don't cost anything.

The setup is very simple. You download the tar (it's like zip) file and unpack it on the server. Then you fill in the gui setup interface with the needed information.

The only thing you will need to do otherwise is be able to make a database with mysql. If you can't, just ask your admin to do it. I'm sure that they will.

First off, I'm looking forward to going to C&W 2007 and staying at my own house, too. Sweet indeed.

Second-- and Jeff, you might want to just email me about this-- hardware-wise, what does it take to run a wiki like this? What kind of server stuff do you need?

Also, I've had great success with Wiki this semester. I think I'm going to use it a lot more often.

Can we all stay at your house? Will you fix our toast without crusts, please?
