I'm writing this note on my new 15" PB from a Cupertino Starbuck's, just down the street from Apple's main HQ. So I'm not objective at all. The iTunes is playing as a I type. I'm going to learn how to upload both music and text to my new iPod. Hey, I've only had Macs since 1984, seven different desktops and three laptops (including this one), work and home combined. So I recommend the Mac. Of course, I've never given the competitors a try.

I of course believe that Macintosh computers give you the power to be your best. And, cbd, OS 10.xx is supposedly pretty close to unix/linux (though I'm hardly a unix/linux geek).
Having said that, I also always believe it best to get a school computer platform that is supported by your place of employment.
And then still get a mac for home, where you do the real work.

I should sue them for stealing "Yellow Dog" from me!

You can run Yellow Dog Linux on a Mac :-)

If you can't run Linux on it, it's not a real computer.
That farm stuff is cool. I went out to see friends who do community supported agriculture today. Ate tomatoes, tossed around a football...
I love what I've read about Croom. Alabama is going to be very, very sorry they hired that noob Shula a few years from now.

Why not both? I got a new Dell desktop for the office and a 12" PB just because they are so powerful, stable, and portable. I prefer the Mac OS, but I haven't had a problem with working with files on both machines. The PB is my carry along and it works great, but M$ products still work better on Windoze (even with Office 2004 for the Mac). Go for the best of both worlds.

If I'd known! With just one more half hour this weekend, Collin, I would have enjoyed measuring up the Powerbook in rel. to (my own Sony S150...that's right, keeping it quiet). I couldn't help it. I would've waited a few years for the price to come down, but I had to have one right away (my old boss wouldn't let me keep the Dell from the U). I intend to pay for it by lending it to all the Mac folks at SU when they're craving a Windows fix. You know, something fair like $25/hour and only $15/hr if Windows freezes up.

Collin, that Sony is sweet. No doubt the future of laptop computing. Maybe a few years before they are going for 1200 or so.

Only someone who hasn't basked in the glow of my brand new 15" Powerbook could seriously recommend a Sony. 'Sides which, if I were buying a Sony, I'd definitely go Vaio U-Series. Somebody got me one of those, I'd actually put up with Windows for at least part of the time...

There's always the Sony S150 laptop. What the hell, it's only money. Built-in wifi, Centrino....

I have some advice:
when washing clothes, never wash your colors in hot water. just use warm. it'll keep the colors from fading so quickly.
